Waterlands Nederland
JURJEN ANNEN
Waterlands are thriving ecosystems that serve as resilient, high-yield food-producing forests with exceptional biodiversity both above and below the water. These unique landscapes not only provide an abundant supply of natural building and crafting materials but also work harmoniously with the natural flow of water, which delivers essential nutrients to support plant growth and aquatic life.
The Bosbeweging, meaning "The Forest Movement," was born from Jurjen's vision of inspiring people to step away from their desks and reconnect with nature in meaningful, primitive ways. Alongside his spouse Rosa and a team of passionate individuals, they have transformed this vision into a thriving foundation. The movement invests surplus resources into purchasing land, which is then cultivated into sustainable food forests to benefit future generations.
Jurjen has also designed and developed waterlands, including a remarkable 100-acre project in England, showcasing his expertise in sustainable land use.
For the past four years, the team has been developing a 10+ acre food forest in Drenthe, Netherlands, known as 'The Uffelte Paradise'. They are already planning an even larger food forest project to continue their mission of fostering sustainable ecosystems.
